The City of Sarasota hosted a rotating collection of Florida Highwaymen paintings, which debuted in January 2024 and remained on display through February 2025. The exhibit showcased a selection of landscapes that captured the artists’ signature style and vivid portrayals of Florida’s natural beauty. Displayed at City Hall, the collection provided residents and visitors with a unique opportunity to experience these celebrated works up close. After approximately six months, a new selection of paintings was introduced, offering fresh insight into the Highwaymen’s legacy and the breadth of the collection.

FL Highwaymen Exhibit 2025-1The exhibit was on loan from Roger Lightle, a Highwaymen art collector and owner of the Highwaymen Art Specialists, Inc. in Vero Beach, Florida. Since the late 1990s, Lightle has collected approximately 700 Highwaymen paintings, amassing one of the most relevant collections of the genre. Below, you’ll find videos from informational talks provided by collector Roger Lightle, offering deeper insights into the Florida Highwaymen and their enduring impact on the art world.
