Code Compliance Division Mission Statement
Our collective mission is to protect the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens by enforcing building, zoning, housing and other City codes. The Department works with communities and public agencies alike to preserve and shape a safe, vital, and well planned urban environment.
Through fair and thorough enforcement of local codes and standards, we help facilitate an attractive, clean, and aesthetically pleasing city. We work to keep the City of Sarasota the best small city in the country by investigating complaints quickly and thoroughly and policing neighborhoods and commercial areas alike.

REPORT A VIOLATION |
Code Violations -(Residential and Commercial Related Issues)To report a violation you must first Register / Log In to our Citizen Connect Portal. Once registered you can Check the Status of your report. The portal also allows you may Review Submitted Case Records current or historic by a variety of search criteria without signing in. Note: By signing in your contact information and the report or request are considered public records and subject to disclosure under the Florida Public Records Act. Also, Per Senate Bill 60, effective July 1, 2021, anonymous code compliance complaints may no longer be submitted and investigated. If the reported violation presents an imminent threat to public health, safety, or welfare or imminent destruction of habitat or sensitive resources call the Code Compliance Division at (941) 263-6417.

Service Requests -(Utility and City Services Related Issues)You must Register / Log In to make a new service request, report a problem or track a previous inquiry. This log-in process is different than the Citizen Connect Portal used for code violations. You may use the same user id and password as you do for code violations. Once logged in you can view the status of your previous requests and add additional information. |
