Public Art Opportunities:
Call for Artists: 10th & Osprey Mural Opportunity
The City of Sarasota has issued a new Call for Artists as part of the Florida Legacy Arts Mural Series. This project will commission a large-scale mural at the corner of 10th Street and Osprey Avenue, located on the exterior of a residential building adjacent to Gillespie Park.
The mural will reflect the theme Florida Flora and Fauna, with a focus on local and native bird species. Artists are encouraged to submit designs that celebrate the region’s natural environment and complement the surrounding neighborhood. The mural site includes a unique window layout, and proposals should consider the architectural features of the wall.
This public art opportunity is open to local, regional, and national artists. Preference will be given to those listed on the City of Sarasota’s 2024–2026 Public Art Roster, although listing is not required to apply. The selected artist will receive a commission of up to $45,000, inclusive of all project costs. Finalists will receive a stipend to develop their proposals, and the final design will be selected by the Public Art Committee with input from the surrounding community.
The call will be open through the online platform CallForEntry.org from June 6 through July 6, 2025.
