Housing Rehabilitation Program

If there is sufficient equity in the home, up to $75,000.00 can be loaned for various repairs such as those available in the Essential Repairs Program, repairs to correct code violations or other repairs necessary to make the house safe and sanitary.

ohcd home repair-2In both programs the homeowner may request repairs that will be made to the home and selects their own contractor(s). There are no monthly payments.          Instead, the homeowner repays the loan when the home is sold, transferred, refinanced, leased, assigned, the applicant no longer lives in the home or 30 years, whichever comes first.

The value of the assisted property after rehabilitation will not exceed the maximum value for participation in the HOME or State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program, depending on the funding source. These values are updated annually.
